CHLOE’S PADLOCK IS BACK!

Who remembers the famous Chloe Paddington bag?

20190703_171835[1]
Chloe Paddington Bag

For me that was truly an “It Bag”. I wanted it so badly, and I saved up my money for months. It seems surreal to think that was back in the early 2000’s, which is when bags really became my obsession. I remember when the bag was delivered, the leather and how incredibly heavy it was with all of my stuff in it. My friend would comment that it was ridiculous to carry such a bag, even one so attractive. She would pick it up and say, “How can you even take this shopping with you, it weighs a ton”. I was never and will never be a function before fashion kind of gal. There are just too many beautiful things in this world to be had in terms of wearable fashion that is not comfortable. I will not give them up! besides, I have yet to meet a bag that is heavier than my Jimmy Choo Rosabel bag when fully stuffed.

Chloe Paddinton Bag

I had to retire my Paddington after 8 years or so of use (I tend to keep my bags for quite a while since I baby them), it was getting so worn out and obviously looked pretty dated at that point. I reluctantly put her to rest. I never lost my love for that bag, I miss it, as I do the Marc Jacobs Stam. The Stam was one of my other loves. I switched between those two so often during those years.

I am the nostalgic type, so when the Dior Saddle bag made its reappearance, I honestly thought of my Paddington and whether or not other designers would follow suit in resurrecting some of their iconic style from years past. So present day, I get an email From Neiman Marcus…………..about this new Chloe bag………….which is not exactly the Paddington, but more the elegant big sister.

Oh, sigh, the new Chloe Aby Medium Day Bag

Chloe Aby Medium Day Bag $2,390

I am so in love with this bag. It is the Paddington re-imagined with new life and depth. First, it is definitely more of a structured look, which aligns so with my style. I imagine the leather will soften, as is indicative of Chloe’s leather bags. There is so much detail, while still being understated. The little chain hanging from the padlock has to be the loveliest touch. It is absolutely Chloe at their best.

MY FAVORITE PIECES FROM GUCCI SPRING 2019

With Spring right around the corner, I am getting so excited to see what designers have in store for this season!

Whilst browsing the latest at Neiman Marcus, these newest pieces from Gucci were the first to catch my eye. So much from this collection evokes such class. It combines the best elements of feminine style from so many of the best bygone eras of women’s fashion.

Gucci Patent Leather Spiked Pumps

These pumps are such a perfect mix of feminine and edgy. The heel is not too high so the would most likely be comfortable to wear most of the day.

Gucci Horsebit Leather Slingback Pumps

I am loving this classic Gucci striped pump. The horsebit buckle tastefully placed, makes this an easy pump to dress up or down.

Gucci Button Front GG Canvas Trench Coat

How beautiful is this coat? I love how there are so many details going on with this without it being overdone. The gold buttons make this even better. Gold hardware detailing lends such a richness to everything.

Gucci Pleated Technical Jersey Dress

Pretty pastel pink, perfect pleats, and vintage detailing……..assolutamente perfetto!

Gucci Suede and Metallic Leather Mini Dress

Now this is a party dress! Gold has come back in a big way and it does not seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. This to me is like a really modern take on the flapper dress. It is truly wearable and versatile. I just don’t see what you can’t love about it.

Gucci Flora Web Wool and Silk Scarf

I am a collector of Gucci scarves. They always have so many lovely prints to choose from. If you are new to Gucci or are just starting to look at getting one of their pieces, but you maybe do not want to spend so much, any of their scarves would be a good thing to go for. Some are fairly inexpensive and start at the $200 mark.

Gucci Round Open Temple Sunglasses

Tom Ford’s Jennifer Sunglasses made me a lover of this open temple style of eye wear. These are so delicate and ultra feminine. I still remember my first pair of Gucci sunnies, and what happened to them! While at a friends house I took them off and left them on a shelf where I did not think anyone would grab them. Her kid climbed the shelf and ended up breaking them. Needless to say I was quite vexed!

Gucci Linea Rajah Large Leather Tote Bag

This bag! I don’t even know how to describe its’ perfection. That classic red stripe, the gold, and the emblem; all against a perfect cream leather backdrop. I often say that my signature red nail color is Gucci red, they perfectly match that red stripe!

The new Gucci collection definitely has me lusting for more!

THE EFFY PERIDOT COLLECTION

Who doesn’t love a color saturated gemstone? Also, the bigger the better right? I have been so into huge gems lately, and I love that so many jewelry designers are putting them at the forefront of their collections.

One gem that I just don’t see a ton of in terms of quality is Peridot. You can find it in random department store chains, but they are not the vibrant green that you would want to look for. More times than not, the stones have a brownish hue to them, or they look dull. The finest and most color saturated Peridot comes in stones weighing over 10 carats, which is pretty rare.

That is why I have fallen in love with the Peridot pieces from EFFY! The stones in this collection all weigh in at under 3.5 carats, but they are better quality in terms of color that I have seen. If you have a birthday in August I would be pretty excited right now!

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Pendant, 2.48 TCW $1,297.50

How lovely is this pendant with a halo of white diamonds?

Effy 14K White Gold Peridot and Diamond Earrings, 1.95 TCW $1,397.50

I don’t really wear drop earrings as they get tangled in my hair, but for the right occasion I would sport an updo to be able to wear these!

Effy 14K White and Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Tri Band Ring, 2.74 TCW $1,737.50

Rose gold is absolutely everywhere, and so are multiple bands. It is all over Pinterest with the multi band look. I love that these two bands match.

Effy 14K White Gold Peridot and Diamond Earrings, 2.30 TCW $1,175.00

More beautiful drop earrings!

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Pendant, 2.57 TCW $837.50

I am really happy that yellow gold is coming back. I am a two-tone lover and with a diamond halo on a yellow gold background, it gives off a two-tone look.

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Ring, 1.28 TCW $975.00

This is a smaller Peridot stone, but with this setting it looks much grander.

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Ring, 1.74 TCW $1,347.50

The white gold rope accent reminds me of a David Yurman piece!

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot Pendant, 2.09 TCW $875.00

This is the simplest design in the collection, but for those who love the minimalist look, this is perfect!

Effy 14K Yellow Gold Peridot and Diamond Pendant, 3.66 TCW $1,197.50

This is the largest single stone in the collection and by far the most color saturated. This one is definitely my pick!

Are you an August baby?

LIQUID GOLD

Facial oils continue to hold their place as the most popular skincare treatment on the market. There are now literally hundreds to choose from and options for every skin type.

So which one do you choose? The first thing you want to look for is the ingredients. The most potent and effective oils are going to be the ones that are 100% natural, cold pressed and unrefined, with no chemical additives or silicones. Josie Maran Argan Oil is a perfect example, which is why I have been a dedicated user for years.

There have been several new products from her line over the years (I use her cleansing oil, scrub and honey body balms religiously), but her newest product knocks all other oils I have tried out of the park!

The new Argan Reserve Healthy Skin Concentrate is literally liquid gold! The holy grail of pure facial oils. Unlike the original oils, this concentrated is made up of other parts of the argan tree including the leaves and argan press cake.

Firstly, each bottle is signed and marked with a number indicating which batch it came from. This oil is so unique in that it it will be made in limited quantities each year when the leaves are sustainably harvested. I have bought a few bottles just to ensure I always have a backup!

I love the rich golden color and it absorbs like a dream! I use it as the last step in my skincare routine after all of my other products have thoroughly absorbed. The smell is a bit stronger than the original oil, but not unpleasant by any means, just a bit more herbal with a nutty nuance.

The results have been phenomenal! My skin has never been more smooth and radiant, which is saying something because I actually have great skin. (No not naturally! Great skin takes a ton of work, sunscreen, the right products, and a ton of water consumption!)

If you have been curious to try a facial oil for the first time, or are looking to switch what you are currently using, I recommend this one above all others!

OBSESSED WITH EMBOSSED

I have always considered the Fall and Winter seasons to be the most glamorous time for fashion. The first hint of a chill and I’m swapping out my favorite Tory Burch Miller sandals for my cozy UGG boots! You can be wearing jeans and a plain crew-neck, but if you throw a cashmere poncho over everything, you instantly up your glam factor ×1,000.

I say the same thing for handbags.

Croc and snake embossed prints are a MUST for Fall and Winter bags, and Brahmin does it best!

I have been a faithful lover of Brahmin bags for as long as I can remember, and this year their Priscilla Satchel has earned my unremitting adoration!

This design is beautifully crafted out of sturdy leather. I have never had a Brahmin bag fall apart on me, they stay beautiful for years and years. I love a structured handbag over any other type of bag. I hate when bags sag in the middle or start to lose their shape. There are of course exceptions to those rules, like my Neverfull MM and my Christmas gift this year (sneak peek of that to come), or my Stella McCartney Fallabella, but even those I put some sort of bag shaper inside to keep them looking their best and avoid creases. Yes, that does seem like quite a bit to go through for a bag I suppose!

No misshapen woes to worry about with this design! All of these bags come with an optional shoulder strap, there are pockets and room galore, and you get dust covers. The prints are just breathtaking! Obviously, the only problem with this bag is how do you choose your favorite?

Priscilla Satchel in Pecan Melbourne $385
Priscilla Satchel in Pecan Melbourne $385

This has been their classic color since the brand was founded. Rich browns, russet, and caramel tones make this the most un-boring neutral in existence.

Priscilla Satchel in Forest Melbourne $385
Priscilla Satchel in Forest Melbourne $385

This is a really multi-toned olive-green hue. The things about Brahmin bags are that the photos never do them justice. The craftsmanship is so much more lovelier in person.

Priscilla Satchel in Brown Rooksbury $435

Something about this design reminds me of Burberry. This bag was made for London!

Priscilla Satchel in Black Melbourne $385

Classic black croc embossing. This will always be a classic!

Priscilla Satchel in Stone Carlisle $445

I am loving all of these elegant snake prints this year! This one has subtle champagne tones.

Priscilla Satchel in Natural Leighton $435

I consider taupe to be a very necessary staple in your family of neutrals. There are so may things that it goes with. I wold say I use my taupe colored bags as much if not more than my tan or beige ones.

Priscilla Satchel in Brunello Melbourne $385
Priscilla Satchel in Brunello Melbourne $385

This is a rich cocoa ombre shade. All of these bags have a subtle sheen to them. The finish is not quite glossy, but not matte either, it makes it all the more rich looking.

Priscilla Satchel in Toasted Almond Melbourne $385
Priscilla Satchel in Toasted Almond Melbourne $385

If the Pecan Melbourne is too deep of a neutral than yo are wanting, the Toasted Almond is the way to go.

Priscilla Satchel in Ironwood Melbourne $385
Priscilla Satchel in Ironwood Melbourne $385

This shade is just so exquisitely beautiful! It is the darkest brown imaginable, but the croc embossing gives it that two-toned appeal. The color is so rich!

Priscilla Satchel in Gold Sumatra $445
Priscilla Satchel in Gold Sumatra $445

Gold is what’s in this year, but if you are not wanting that bold 24K look, a more subtle champagne gold is a great option. This bag has s much character, it will make the outfit.

Priscilla Satchel in Pink Ellora $465

Brahmin always manages to make a snake-print look sophisticated, even when it is pink!

Priscilla Satchel in Pearl Dogwood $415
Priscilla Satchel in Pearl Dogwood $415

I love this print. It is so bold. I love a bag that will give that wow factor to any of my 1,000 black dresses!

Priscilla Satchel in Ivory Boracay $455

To be honest, I am not much for embroidered bags. This one is just so beautiful though. The thing I love about this one is that the embroidery is perfectly symmetrical.

Priscilla Satchel in Brown Matsue $445
Priscilla Satchel in Brown Matsue $445

This print has the most patent like finish that makes the dark brown almost look black. Lovely!

Do you see what I mean? How can you pick?

A SUNSCREEN FOR THE MODERN AGE

Some of my friend’s excuse(s) for not using sunscreen……..it’s sticky, it leaves my face oily, it breaks me out, it makes me look chalky, it smells bad. Those are some of the reasons I hear from other people as to why they do not regularly use sunscreen.

Now, I have had my fair share of issues with sunscreen as well, but that hasn’t deterred me from using it. After all, I would rather get the occasional break out or have to invest in a ton of blotting papers than have wrinkles and age spots. I have just been content with the fact that sun protection products for the face can’t always be perfect……….or can they?

Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 $45
Cover FX Clear Cover Invisible Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 $45

Yes they can be perfect and more! I have found the Holy Grail of sunscreens! This newest formula from Cover FX IS perfect. It is not sticky, greasy, and doesn’t leave a white cast. It has a very slight sunscreen smell, but that dissipates very quickly.

20161021_2313431

It goes on completely clear, and the best part…it acts as a face primer! It goes on smooth and absorbs within seconds. The real test obviously is how effective it is at protecting your face. Well, I went to a theme park weeks ago, I was there all day, the sun was shining, and no sunburn. SPF 30 is pretty decent for everyday. This sunscreen one ups all the others even more with its antioxidant packed formula, along with brightening and moisturizing properties. It isn’t overly moisturizing, so those of you who have the oiliest skin in the Summer but still want a little something for dry patches; this may be all you need.

The bottle is a pump, so you will not lose effectiveness from the product being exposed to oxygen.

I cannot find the words to say how much I love this stuff. It is absolutely for everyone. Even the sunscreen itself is a gentle formulation, so you will be hard pressed to find someone who will have a bad reaction to this. I even put my tried and true Perricone MD Photoplasma on the back burner!

Clear Cover wins my vote for product innovation of the year!

MON CHANEL No. 5

Chanel Nº 5 is undeniably one of the most iconic fragrances in existence. However, the fragrance simply isn’t for everyone. The dominant  notes are laid on pretty thick, and it’s just one of those fragrances that you either love or dislike.

Those who love it, appreciate the complexity and distinctness of the fragrance. (Never mind that when Marilyn Monroe was asked what she wore to bed she exclaimed, “Chanel Nº 5”).Those who dislike it…….I have heard it referred to being for the “mature” generation. I must admit, the parfum and eau de parfum tend to be a bit overwhelming for me as well. My husband has said it was one of his least favorites among my fragrance collection.

Nº 5 has been “lightened up” several times, and I believe it was done to appeal to the younger masses. I never really thought that the scent had changed all that much, except for the fragrance opened softer and dried down slightly sweeter. Now after several fine tuned releases of  the original, I have finally found my signature Chanel Nº 5 in the form of L’eau!

Chanel No. 5 L'eau $76-$132
Chanel No. 5 L’eau $76-$132

At first spray, you can immediately tell it’s Chanel Nº 5, just softer with a bit more citrus. You can get away with more than one spray! There is not as much longevity, but that just allows you to take out the sophisticated bottle again throughout the day. I carry a full size bottle of fragrance with me, unless my bag is just too small,

If you have always wanted to be that kind of woman who wears Chanel Nº 5, but you feel like you couldn’t pull it off, you have to try this newest version. It is truly lovely, modern, and classic. I haven’t stopped wearing it since I got it!

THE LATEST FROM CAROLINA HERRERA

Just in case you missed the Carolina Herrera Spring 2017 show, I thought I would share it with you. I know Fall is right around the corner, but her Spring collection was just so absolutely breathtaking! She makes some of the most beautiful clothing I have ever seen. If this is any indication of what is to come for the Spring season, I am on board! Enjoy!

IT’S ALL IN THE BLOCK HEEL

The shoe gods have spoken and block heel booties are this Fall and Winter season’s “It Shoe”! Now, when you get the notion to go out and look for a pair, adopt this mantra, “The blockier the better”!

This is going to be a particularly easy trend for most people to adapt to (if you haven’t already) simply because block heels are a hell of a lot easier to walk in than stilettos, especially if you have to navigate over an icy parking lot. The only drawback for me with block heels is that they usually tend to be inelegant. I love my sleek, pointy toe stiletto boots! This season however, designers have completely broken that mold and come up with several options that will fit anyone’s style. This year the block heel can be elegant, and whatever else you want it to be!

Tory Burch went with some very simplistic details with the hardware on these boots, which I love. The flowy top is what gives this look its feminine flair. Add sleek accessories and you are good to go. This is edgy street style at its chicest! Cuir avec cuir et plus de cuir!

HOW TO STYLE BLOCK HEEL BOOTIES (GOLD)

Topshop Maria Chealsea Block Heel Boot $150/ Chloé Small Drew Bag $1930/ 14K White Gold Black CZ Earrings $30/ Nikoleta Long Sleeve Mesh and Bandage Dress

You will very soon find out that in addition to block heels, gold EVERYTHING is what’s in! Nothing goes better with gold than black. If you are going to wear such a bold boot, accent with gold stud or chain details on your outfits or handbags, but keep your jewelry minimal. In this case, your boots are your jewelry.HOW TO STYLE BLOCK HEEL BOOTIES (EMBELLISHED)

I am seeing quite a few embellished heels, and these ones from YSL are my absolute favorite so far. The silver tones on the heels pair lovely with navy, grays, and whites. I love the cable knit poncho with the boots, and you can also dress them down with just jeans and a gray sweater.HOW TO STYLE BLOCK HEEL BOOTIES (EMBELLISHED)

Black is my favorite thing to wear for so many reasons, but one of them is that you can effortlessly accent with the boldest pops of color. I love how the Valentimo Rockstud bags seem to match all of the new embellished Valentino boots. With all of these details, you don’t even need any jewelry.

These booties from Alexander Wang look incredibly comfortable. If I was a tourist in London, this is exactly what I would want to be wearing! Burgundy is another “IT” color for the Fall and Winter, and it is becoming the new neutral to have in your closet. It really pairs with so much. You can always be sure it will go with a Burberry bag!

Graziano Goldtone Mesh Bib Necklace $45

The nice thing about block heels as I mentioned before, is that they give you more sturdy traction when you are walking. These have a platform in the front which will make them even more wearable. If you love high heels then these will be a great option for you. I think that the boots pair particularly well with an animal print. Do not shy away from animal prints! You can absolutely make them look sophisticated and chic.

Tory Burch is definitely on a flared block heel kick! If you read one of my last articles about her new Gigi Pumps, then you know what I mean. The flared block heel is very mod, and I expect other designers will veer that way for the upcoming seasons. One of my favorite combos in terms of color is black, white, and bright blue. It makes for the perfect foundation to color block.

So, do you think you could walk a mile in my block heels?

THE BEST OIL CLEANSERS

If you have not been using an oil to clean your face in the evening, then you desperately need to start!  Like Yesterday!

Despite what you may think about your most effective skin stripping cleanser, it will not rid you of all of the makeup, dirt, and pollutants that have been congesting your visage throughout the day. In the past, I had developed the bad habit of over cleansing. I was a novice, just beginning my skincare routine journey. I remember using the Clinique makeup removing gel cleanser to take off  my face in the evening, and my skin would be left completely dry and tight. Even after that when I used my toner, I would still see traces of makeup residue left on the cotton pad. All of that changed once I started habitually using oil cleansers years ago. I even use them when I don’t have any makeup on. It just ensures that my skin is that much cleaner.

The first thing you should know about oil cleansers is that they should NOT be your only cleansing method. They work best and most efficiently as a pre-cleanser. They work to penetrate into your pores and pull out what is trapped, removing all traces of makeup (even mascara), all while conditioning your skin without any stripping. The trick is in finding the right type of oil cleanser.

All oil cleansers should emulsify and become milky when they are rinsed off. Your skin should not be left with any oily residue. The best oil cleansers will also always use quality natural oils. These are the only oils that will actually penetrate and benefit your skin. Mineral oil does nothing but sit on top of your skin. It is such a cheap filler oil, I would not want a product that contained it anyway. As a general rule, never buy beauty or skincare products that contain mineral oil, especially expensive ones.

If you are on the fence about which cleansing oils to use, I have narrowed it down to my 5 favorites. They are truly the best ones I have found so far.

DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil $28

This is the first oil cleanser I ever used, and is still the one I grab when I need some really deep pre-cleansing. I love it for when I need to take off some really potent sunscreen. It is olive oil based, so it is very soothing if you have irritated skin.

L'Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil
L’Occitane Shea Cleansing Oil $24

This oil cleanser is by far the most moisturizing one I have tried. Shea butter as you know is one of the best emollients for skin, so it is my top pick for the cold Winter months. Sunflower oil rounds out the formula along with highly nourishing baobab oil. If you don’t know anything about baobab oil then you are missing out on a prime treat for skin. Baobab oil contains linoleic, oleic, and linolenic acid, which are very concentrated fatty acids. They actually restore the epidermis and maintain the health of cell membranes. Who knew you could get all of that from an oil cleanser!

AmorePacific Treatment Cleansing Oil
AmorePacific Treatment Cleansing Oil $50

This oil is on the expensive side, but for what you are getting it is totally worth the splurge! You get the benefits of coconut oil, but it doesn’t stop there, orbignya and camellia seed oils blend with brightening oils and ginger extract; which has an energizing effect on skin. If you travel quite a bit, this would be a good pick. It makes my skin look completely refreshed and renewed after using. I almost want to use it as a moisturizing facial oil sometimes.

Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil
Josie Maran Argan Cleansing Oil $32

I love how this oil smells! It has a pretty fruity aroma. Anti-oxidant rich grapeseed oil is blended with natural sunflower, argan, and olive oils; and brightening grapefruit seed oil. This is a good choice for Summer since it is so light and silky.

Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil
Tatcha Pure One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil $48

This is the latest one I have tried. I am loving camellia oil right now, and that is the main oil in this product along with rice bran oil. I also love anything with green tea, it’s a great anti-oxidant. What’s different about this is that it is moisturizing but also will help to control oil. I would call this a balancing oil cleanser. That means it will be perfectly suited for those that tend to have oilier skin. Acne prone individuals should not be afraid to use this one either. They call it “pure” for a reason.

Any of these oil cleansers would be a great pick for everyday use all year round, but I love the fact that they are each a little bit different and would suit certain skin types better than the others might.

IT’S WRAPPING SEASON

Okay, everyone keep calm. This is NOT Christmas gift wrap related!

Leather accent jewelry trends have been huge for the past few years, and it doesn’t show signs of stopping. (And I’ve brought some corn for popping………okay, I’ll stop! I just can’t wait for Christmas okay.) Last year’s Slogan bracelets from Chanel got my vote for favorite wearable leather accessory. This year, my pick has to be the new leather wrap bracelets from Henri Bendel!

Screenshot_20160803-090214[1]

These can be styled casually with your jeans and tees, sophisticated worn as singles with a simple black maxi dress, or they can be a statement piece when you pair a few or all of them together.

This collection in particular is ideal, since all of the pieces have been designed to be worn together. All of the colors are basically Fall neutrals too. As for the metals, gold and rose gold-plated brass, and rhodium plated steel have been used to complement certain shades.

Petal Triple Wrap Bracelet in Dark Green $88
Petal Triple Wrap Bracelet in Dark Green $88

Gold continues its upswing in popularity! I love how they chose to style the rich gold tone metal with the deep greens and burgundy hues (one of this season’s “IT” colors).

This bracelet does wrap multiple times around the wrist and features an adjustable buckle closure. I love the tiny petal and rhinestone accents.

Rose gold anything is still the most sought after trend in metal jewelry, and it goes beautifully with the camel colored leather.

Padlock Leather Wrap Bracelet in Dark Green $98
Padlock Leather Wrap Bracelet in Dark Green $98

These padlock bracelets are my favorite! When I wear statement jewelry, I tend to only wear the one piece and not much else. Either a chunky necklace or bracelets.

Padlock Leather Wrap Bracelet in Dark Red $98
Padlock Leather Wrap Bracelet in Dark Red $98

These are rather bold on their own, but I think I would stack a few of the gold toned hues together with my beige Cynthia Rowley cashmere sweater. These will add so much character to any otherwise plain neutral clothes you have in your wardrobe.

Padlock Leather Wrap Bracelet in Black $98

If ever there was a bracelet to compliment the Stella McCartney Falabella bag in black with the silver chains, this would be it. If you are into the rocker chic look, this would be perfect!

I am loving the clasp on this bracelet too, with just that one single rhinestone.

These dark green and red options they did a little differently, by using coordinating dark green and red rhinestones with the leather.

At first glance, the petal accents on these remind me a little of the shapes on the Louis Vuitton logos.

These bracelets are by far the easiest to put on with a button snap closure.

I did wonder why they didn’t do these with the matching shades of rhinestones. Oh well, they look fabulous either way!

I hope they keep these around for next year in new Spring colors! Which style is your favorite?

MY WEEKEND Of FRAGRANCE DISCOVERIES

I headed over to Nordstrom this past weekend to check out the latest fragrance launches. I find the entire experience of fragrance shopping delightful. Amidst all of the beautiful bottles and the soft scents that mingle with each other, I find my happy place. I especially love when you find those few out of  the dozens that stand out. Most of the time nowadays if you have smelled one, you have smelled them all. I was so surprised to find more than a couple that just wowed me.

Aerin Tangier Vanille Eau de Parfum $115-160
Aerin Tangier Vanille Eau de Parfum $115-160

I am drawn to any fragrance with a vanilla base, and this vanilla is so sensually rich.  I know some people do not like rich vanilla bases simply because the fragrance ends up smelling either very generic, too synthetic and artificial, or like overly sweet baked goods. You won’t get any of that from Tangier Vanille. Bulgarian rose gives the blend a hint of  floral character, while amber and soft musk balance and add more depth. This is actually soft enough for a daytime fragrance, but so appropriate for evening as well. It rather reminds me of Kenzo Amour, and I love that! This is surely my new favorite from Aerin.

Prada LaFemme Prada Eau de Parfum $95-$130
Prada La Femme Prada Eau de Parfum $95-$130

Move over Prada Candy, you may have just been outdone! This is such a beautiful floral and sweet fragrance. Frangipani is the front-runner of the blend. You just do not see that flower utilized very often in fragrances due to its rather sharp note. The way the floral is blended with sweetness completely mellows it out and lets you appreciate the flower at its best. If you have a rather sensitive nose like I do, then you will be able to pick out the hint of beeswax. I go to a local bee store to buy the fresh raw honey that they make. The best part of going in there is the smell! They make beeswax candles. If you have never smelled a natural beeswax candle then you don’t know what you are missing. The fact that I can catch a hint of it in this fragrance makes me love it all the more. Even the liquid is a honey gold color!

Heremes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate Eau de Cologne $129-$175
Heremes Eau de Rhubarbe Ecarlate Eau de Cologne $129-$175

At first I wasn’t sure if this was intended to be a men’s fragrance or not. It certainly could be considered unisex in my opinion. It is actually really hard to describe this one. It smells fresh and crisp with a hint of floral and fruit, but not in an overly feminine way. I get soft woods and white musk, which softens the sharp citrus note of the rhubarb. This is one  of those fragrances that you would wear if you truly want to smell unique.

Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum $92-$122
Yves Saint Laurent Mon Paris Eau de Parfum $92-$122

Did you ever have any of those Body Fantasies sprays as a teen? My favorite was the raspberry spray. At first spritz this fragrance brought me back to that. Mon Paris is a “an all grown up” and sophisticated version of that body spray, a creamy, fruity floral. I say all grown up, but the fragrance maintains a youthful flirtiness that still manages to pull off sophisticated. My favorite Nordstrom SA mentioned that she didn’t like it because of the patchouli. When she said that I was worried it was going to be another version of Flowerbomb, but not so. It has its own distinct aroma. I love that is great for warm weather. This is definitely my favorite fragrance from Yves Saint Laurent now.

I used to joke with my husband that I would eventually need some sort of fragrance closet inside of my closet, now I think I actually might!

TODAY’S OBSESSION: THE NEW TORY BURCH GIGI PUMPS

If you saw the top shelf of my closet, there would be no question as to whether or not I love Tory Burch shoes! I practically live in my various Reva flats until it gets really cold.

For me, flats are one step up on the casual scale from sandals or flip-flops. On most days however, I do like to be between casual and dressy; so I rely on low or kitten heels to keep my look polished, yet stay comfortable enough in case I have to run around all day. That is why I adore Tory Burch’s new Gigi pumps.

These are just stunning shoes!

Screenshot_20160802-222652[1]Firstly, they have a flared block heel, which gives them a really modern look. None of us want to admit it to ourselves, but stilettos are not ideal to walk around in comfortably for more than 5 hours max.. I am willing to wager I could walk around in these puppies all day! They want to be walked in!

I am loving the “T” logo that was designed for this shoe. It goes perfectly with that mod look.

If you look right under the shoe on the front of the heel, you will see another tiny Tory Burch logo.

The toe is rounded so that will make these even more comfortable. If I am right in assuming that these feel like you are wearing a pair of Revas but with a slight heel, I will needing more than one pair!

I am very much into dark shades of blue with black and black/white prints.

Which one or ones would you get first?

THE UPTOWN SATCHEL GETS A NEW SKIN

Sometimes you just want an understated satchel, with not too much fuss or muss. It says polished, classy, and elegant. Plus, it saves you when you overcompensate for the lack of details in your accessories, by wearing those brightly colored floral print overalls. (Yes, I saw those in the store. That’s a no and a no for me!)

The Uptown Satchel from Henri Bendel is just that; polished, classy, and elegant! I loved their original pebbled version, but then they revamped the bag a few times with an Ostrich and Crocodile embossed leather. I love exotic skin embossing on an understated bag. It gives it just that little bit of extra detail, without looking overdone.

Their latest Lizard collection keeps the bag classic, but gives it that little bit of trend factor.

I just love this Lizard embossing! It is a perfect in between for those who don’t want plain, but also don’t want a bold look. The structured shape is ideal. This large version of Uptown Lizard Satchel will hold a ton of stuff and would make a perfect work bag. There is tons of space and organization inside, with a magnetic close pocket on the back of the bag as well. The sides are also expandable, which is helpful if you tend to be an overstuffer. I love the simple turnlock closure in the front with minimal hardware everywhere else. The gorgeous neutral color options are Fall season ready!

For those of you who may not want such a large bag as the original, the Uptown Lizard Satchel also comes in a mini version. The mini has all of the same features of its larger counterpart, just in a more compact package. I have seen the mini worn as a crossbody and it really is a perfect size, if you prefer to wear your bags that way.

The only fault I can find with this bag is……..which color?

WANT A RADIANT COMPLEXION? THINK LEMONS

I remember one of my childhood friends used to spray a ton of lemon juice and water in her hair to get those natural looking sun-kissed highlights. If you have ever done that then you most likely know that if you spray a mixture of lemon juice in your hair, it will become lighter and brighter. The same is fortunately true when you apply lemon juice to your skin; fresh lemon juice, not the concentrate from the bottle. Lemons act as a natural exfoliant, thanks to the concentrated amounts of citric acid; while Vitamin C works to brighten. Lemon juice will lighten dark spots and freckles and reduce oiliness. The anti-fungal properties in lemons will also treat acne. You also get the added benefits of calcium and magnesium. It truly is a super fruit!

Screenshot_20160722-131450[1]

A lemon enzyme facial or a fruit acid peel are some of my favorite ways to get my skin glowing. Lemon infused facial treatments can be easily overdone, however. The trick is to use it in an occasional treatment and not as part of your everyday routine. Lemon juice is harsh. If it will strip away the enamel from your teeth, it will strip away more layers of your skin than you actually need it to. You must also never expose skin to direct sunlight if you have any sort of concentrated lemon product on your face. It will cause your skin to become sensitive or could cause a phototoxic reaction, which is true for any type of acid used in facial products. Everything in moderation is my motto!

So what type of product should you use? I have found that you will get the best balance of effective yet gentle, with a mask or peel. Then you can control the amount of time you have the product on your face. If you have sensitive skin, start out slow and then work your way up to more frequent use.

Here are my top picks for the best lemon based facial products!

Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy Boosting Face Mask $62
Fresh Vitamin Nectar Vibrancy Boosting Face Mask $62

I love this new facial from Fresh! It works so effectively and is one of my new favorite go to facials. It is 50% concentrated crushed fruit! You can see the bits of lemon. That is a ton of natural fruit AHA! My skin just looks glowing after. The recommended usage for this product is leaving on for 10 minutes, but I would start out with 5 and see how your skin reacts. I am used to regular exfoliation treatments, so for me it is a perfect pick me up. It smells fruity too.

Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel $48
Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel $48

This is great for those of you with sensitive skin. It is a combo of glycolic, lactic, and lemon citric acid; but also contains licorice extract, which will work to soothe any skin irritation.

Neogen Dermalogy Bio_peel Gauze Peeling Lemon $27
Neogen Dermalogy Bio_peel Gauze Peeling Lemon $27

These little pads pack a punch; they are double-sided and work amazingly! One side of the pad applies the product, and the other sloughs the dead skin cells away. This product contains lemon and several other fruit acids along with other chemical exfoliators. These are great if you are just trying fruit acids for the first time; you get a months worth of product for under $30. I love how fresh and fruity they smell too. I like that these travel well. The pads are soaked with solution, so if you wanted to take a few in a separate container you could. Then you wouldn’t have to worry about wasting product or taking the entire jar with you.

EmerginC Vitamin C+Retinol Mask $50
EmerginC Vitamin C+Retinol Mask $50

I have been using this product for years and it has yet to let me down. This is a sort of clay based mask. Aside from the lemon extracts, fruit acids, and retinol, there are some great antioxidants in this formula including green tea extract. This mask works so well to brighten and retexturize at the same time. It is quite powerful, so those with sensitive skin, I caution again to start out slow. I love this mask in the Winter too as it helps to combat flaky skin.

If you haven’t tried a lemon facial product before, you can’t go wrong with any of these. My face adores them! Just a fair warning: All of that lemony scented product may cause you to develop an unhealthy lemon meringue pie fetish!
